Guitar & Bass Lessons

Learn acoustic or electric guitar for rock, pop, country, jazz, classical, metal, worship, and more, by ear or by the book.

Guitar and bass lessons at Pittsburgh School of the Arts are customized for you. Whether you want to learn Metallica riffs, play your favorite Taylor Swift songs, learn jazz theory, or experiment with pedals, we have instructors from all backgrounds who can help you reach your fullest potential.

Beginner guitar lessons start out with an introduction to technique, warm-up exercises, learning to play basic chords, and reading charts. We incorporate theory into every lesson for a well-rounded musical education. However, we also like to make sure students are learning music that excites them! We employ a variety of method books based on student need and preferences, and encourage students to suggest their favorite songs to learn.

Intermediate and advanced guitar lessons can focus on any area students wish to improve. We can help you improve your timing, technique, tone, ear training, phrasing, improvisation, knowledge of chord theory and scales, and more. We have multiple instructors who bring years of live and studio experience to lessons to help you be not just a good guitar student, but a great guitarist in the real world.

Our private instructors are passionate about helping individuals of all ages and skill levels develop in their knowledge, experience, and personal musical goals. We seek to create a fun, yet disciplined environment that caters to every student's unique learning style.

Monthly tuition ranges from $115-210. Lessons are billed monthly via our online automatic payment system. Virtual and at-home lessons are available by request. Lessons are available in 30 minute, 45 minute, or 1 hour weekly increments.
