Kate Griffin

Owner of Pittsburgh School of the Arts and Music Instructor

Kate began playing the piano & singing at a young age. She participated in Vocal Ensembles, Honors Choirs, Worship Teams, School & Church Musicals & Fine Arts Competitions throughout elementary, middle & high school. Kate earned a place among the top 10 finalists in the Nation for both Vocal & Keyboard Solo in the National Fine Arts Competition in 2000 & has performed for thousands of people on many different occasions. Most recently, Kate was honored to sing the National Anthem at the Pittsburgh Pirates game in the summers of both 2018 & 2019.


Kate attended Grove City College where she graduated with her B.M. in Music Business & a Dual Concentration in Voice & Piano. She completed an internship at Garden City Christian Church (now a Hillsong Campus) in Brisbane, Australia in the summer of 2003 where she worked with their music ministry, adult choir, youth & children's ministries, Creative Arts Office & sang with their worship band in front of thousands of people on a weekly basis.


Kate had the honor of opening for B.B. King at Heinz Hall in March 2008 & has been teaching private Voice & Piano lessons for more than 20 years.


Kate has participated in multiple recording projects & continues to perform publicly for weddings, funerals, church services & conferences. She has taught dozens of Chord Method, Ear Training & Group Theory Classes & she loves working with students of all ages, levels & backgrounds. Kate has a passion to raise up the next generation of musicians & teachers in education & the arts to make a positive impact on the world.


She founded Pittsburgh School of the Arts in 2015. Kate & her husband Chris live in Gibsonia with their four children.
