Josh Donovan is a passionate musician who loves exploring all genres, with jazz and funk being his primary focus and most practiced styles. Skilled in acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, as well as beginner piano and drum set, he has been dedicated to music since the age of 10.

In sixth grade, Josh formed the classic rock/funk trio Ozone Itch, which remained active until his senior year, booking events throughout the community. His passion and dedication led him to audition and be accepted into Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School, where he studied jazz guitar and jazz drumming through intensive one-on-one lessons, recitals, and juries.

Beyond his formal education, Josh has been deeply involved in music communities, volunteering in church bands for youth groups and teaching at his dad’s guitar shop. As an educator, he emphasizes a strong foundation in music theory, technique, and improvisation, helping students develop the skills needed to express themselves confidently within and beyond the jazz tradition.
