Carly Tansimore

Music Instructor

Carly began playing the piano and participating in various musical ensembles starting at the age of 7. Throughout her elementary, middle and high school career she participated in choir, jazz choir, wind ensemble, and marching band. Carly earned her degree in Music Education from Duquesne University with a concentration in piano, choral music and elementary music. While she was there, she studied privately with renowned pianist Dr. David Allen Wehr, completed years of training in all facets of music education, and was hired as a junior to teach band at St. Benedict the Moor School in the Hill District. Shortly after graduating in 2016, she was hired as the general music teacher for grades 1-3 at Hance and Richland Elementary Schools in Pine-Richland School District, where she is currently in her 7th year of teaching.

In addition to her music teaching job, Carly participates in many other musical ensembles. She serves as a core-singer and accompanist for the Faith United Methodist Chancel Choir in Fox Chapel, is a piano accompanist for middle and high school choirs in the Pittsburgh area, has served as assistant director and accompanist for several children’s choirs in the area, and is a member of Belle Voci Community Women’s Choir.

Carly enjoys working with young musicians who are discovering the joy of learning how to play an instrument. She strives to balance rigor with fun, and foster a love and appreciation of music in all of her students.

Carly teaches beginner to advanced piano and beginner voice.
