Drum lessons at Pittsburgh School of the Arts are customized for you. Whether you want to play Rush songs, tighten up your groove, improve your sight reading ability for marching band, or hone your jazz chops, we have something for everyone.
Beginner drum lessons start out with an introduction to stick technique, rudiments, learning the theory of rhythm, and playing basic beats. We incorporate theory into every lesson for a well-rounded musical education. However, we also like to make sure students are learning music that excites them! We employ a variety of method books based on student need and preferences, and encourage students to suggest their favorite songs to learn.
Intermediate and advanced drum lessons lessons can focus on any area students wish to improve. We can help you improve your timing, technique, dynamics, writing parts and fills, reading ability, and even how to tune and make the most of your drums. We have multiple instructors who bring years of live and studio experience to lessons to help you be not just a good drum student, but a great drummer in the real world.
Our private instructors are passionate about helping individuals of all ages and skill levels develop in their knowledge, experience, and personal musical goals. We seek to create a fun, yet disciplined environment that caters to every student's unique learning style.
