Rock Band

Join us as we form a band and learn some of rock's most iconic songs. We'll talk about all that goes into putting on a great show, including how to practice songs independently and as a group, listening to each other, and stage presence. Rehearsals will take place once a week with one of our instructors, culminating with a live performance at the end of the semester.

Paul Macedonia and Caleb Novak

Paul Macedonia and Caleb Novak

Paul Macedonia began playing the guitar at age 10 and grew up rocking out in bands throughout his time at North Allegheny High School. Paul's passion for music led him to Belmont University in Nashville, TN to study Music Business. He continued writing music and performing in bands in his time in Nashville, graduated from Belmont, and returned to Pittsburgh. After working in the business world for a few years and earning a graduate degree, Paul made his way back to music performing in the band that he co-founded called "Paul Mac N'at." In addition to writing original music by day and performing gigs with Paul Mac N'at by night, Paul now expands his musical reach by teaching his passion for guitar to eager learners at Pittsburgh School of the Arts. Paul teaches acoustic, electric, and bass guitar and ukulele.

Caleb Novak is a guitarist and percussionist with over 13 years of musical experience. Caleb has been playing music since 4th grade and has been in love with it ever since. He started playing percussion in elementary school and guitar in middle school. Caleb got his Bachelor's degree in Music performance at Slippery Rock University with a concentration in jazz guitar. At his time in the Slippery Rock Jazz Ensemble, he has played world-renowned jazz festivals in Italy and France, as well as alongside world-class guest artists. He has also been a bandleader and sideman for many performances not associated with Slippery Rock since he was in high school. When he is not performing, Caleb loves teaching people of all ages that have a passion for music.
